Hi, my name is Maria and I am a south Texas native. I really enjoy cooking for my family and creating new dishes out of what I can find in the pantry and fridge. My mom calls my cooking Americanized Mexican. I think that says a lot about me. I have five picky children so I don't venture too much in the kitchen, but you might be surprised by what I can come up with, especially on a tight budget. My husband really enjoys my cooking and my kids prefer home cooking to eating out.They have encouraged me to start a food journal online, so here I am. I hope that my kitchen craze will inspire you mostly because as a full time mom, employee and student my time in the kitchen between work, school and homework can only be a craze.

Easter Sunday. Lunch at Sweet Tomatoes then a stroll down the Highlands Shopping Center and then then park for a family Easter Egg Hunt. Later we had a scavenger hunt at home. The first clue was, “If the tooth fairy was a bunny, where would she lay her eggs?”
So, I was troubleshooting a laptop in an 8th grade classroom where the teacher had the students taking a poll for a math project. One student asked me, “What is your favorite rapper?” I said, “What do you mean, like candy wrapper?”
Family dropped by to surprise us. We all spent the afternoon at the lake watching the ducks and enjoying the weather. We laid out a blanket and talked while my uncle and cousin went fishing. My husband and son missed out, but had their share of fun at the Rangers game.
